Anti Gravity Contraption

Today we talked about gravity as a force and how it works. We then looked at magnetism and I set a challenge to the children. Could they design an anti gravity device using only a paper clip, some string and a magnet. Their challenge was, could they suspend the paper clip in mid air somehow by getting the magnetic force to overpower the force of gravity. I gave a couple of clues (that seemed to involve a dog on a leash pulling towards it's food bowl!?) and left them to figure it out. Many groups were able to create a successful contraption in the end, but well done to Daniel, Roman and especially Jayden who were the first mad scientists to figure it out for themselves.

  1. WOW Room 4. Looks like you are having lots of fun...and learning heaps. We have a class (Year 2's and 3's) who are also learning about forces. I'll share a clip with you soon showing their rockets.
Great to hear the MAD Scientist Jayden is sharing his 'cleverness'.
