Daily Reading / Writing Activities

We have started our reading and writing independent activity focus. These activities are always between 11am - 12pm and here the children select what tasks they would like to do and when. This will hopefully encourage them to become more independent with their own learning habits. There are many activities for them to choose from: reading research, computers, silent reading, literacy games, plays, writing tasks, listening to a recorded story and each day I work on the mat with one or two groups as well. I have been impressed with how well the students have started working on these tasks and it is great to see them taking ownership of what they are doing.
